Hi I'm Rachel McGuinness

Up until 2004 I worked in marketing and events in the telecoms industry. Since then I’ve been helping busy people like you to get healthy and reclaim their energy, so they can get back on their game in a more sustainable way.

My recommendations are based on what I have experienced myself.  In the year 2000 I realised that my busy corporate lifestyle had caused me to become so unhealthy that I was heading for burnout and some serious health issues if I didn’t stop my self-destructive lifestyle.

I decided to completely change how I lived my life.  I got into a proper sleep routine, adopted a cleaner approach to eating, and added regular exercise to my daily habits.  Now I am 42lbs lighter and four dress sizes smaller. But, even more importantly than that, I’m fit and I have more energy than I had as a teenager! I like to think that I’m unrecognisable compared to my former self.

About Nigel

Hi, I’m Nigel and I thought I’d say a few words about myself as I designed and recorded the ‘help your child sleep better’ online course.

My love of people, my deep curiosity in human behaviour, my desire to help people to become more complete, more balanced, more content, more fulfilled, and closer to who they have the potential to be have been life-long. So, it was probably no surprise that I worked for over thirty years in secondary education - which I loved.

Much of this time was devoted to providing guidance and support to pupils, staff and parents to try to enable them to see the value in the challenges and difficulties in their lives, to see the bigger picture, to see themselves and others less harshly, to see the value of less fear.

After retiring early I moved with my wife to Devon in the summer of 2014 and continue to offer advice to those who come to me in need.


As a long time meditator I find its value to me and others huge. I began teaching it years ago whilst I was still teaching and now teach meditation to both individuals and groups face-to-face and online. In addition, I have led evening, day and weekend retreats as well as many sessions more tightly focused on reducing stress. My aim is always to offer practical advice to all in an appropriate, accessible, enjoyable, and discursive manner.

Recently, I have been impressed that more and more teachers are looking for ways to help their pupils and students relax and take responsibility for their emotions and I’m currently working with a small number of teachers  advising them on how best to bring mindfulness into their classes.

Over the past year of so I’ve really enjoyed worked with adults as well as youngsters (and their parents of course) offering advice on the basics of sleep, sleep hygiene, sleep and diet, sleep and exercise, sleep and stress, bedtime routines, and developing successful visualisations to help people enjoy better sleep. The online “better sleep” course which we’re offering on Wake Up With Zest has evolved from these discussions and I have been blessed in being able to work with Rachel to refine and hone this course into its finished state.
